This was my first time visiting the famous OUE Skyspace LA. I have been seeing this amazing location on Instagram. When I got up to 1000 feet above the city, the view was better than just "Instagrammable". It's more than the height - its famour outdoor glass slide, the Colette Miller wings and the amazing 3D showroom are all so amazing. It's about the experience.
My outfit for this sky trip was from Nakd Fashion, a UK boutique brand. The blush sandals are from Just Fab Online. The bag is one of my favorite Chanel boy bags, the denim boy.

Guess what one of my favorite things about summer is? The beach!
Although some people in LA go to the beach year round, summer is the best time to go if you plan on going in the water. It can get cold during the rest of the year and that’s not as fun...obviuosly. One of my favorite things about the beach is the LA-type-of-fashion. It’s much more laid-back, effortless and relaxed. Although I still like to look cute, there’s much less pressure. Beach clothing is meant to be more comfortable and functional for activities. I love anything light and breezy or colorful and festive for the beach and just summer in general. My first two dresses are from Flying Colors apparel. The last one-one of my favorites because I love this vibrant orange is from KAS New York. As far as accessories go, I gotta always have sunglasses and maybe a hat when I go to the beach. The sun is no joke this time of year! Straw or bamboo bags are handy too because they don’t get wrecked by the sand. Some of my favorites places to buy beach clothing and summer dresses are Forever 21, Revolve, H&M and Target. Amazon has a ton of choices too. It helps that shipping is so much faster now with Prime. I look forward to many more upcoming beach days and I am blessed to live somewhere with easy access to that. I recently had an amazing time spending an afternoon at the famous Beverly Hills Hotel over on Sunset Boulevard.
Fun fact: The Golden Globes award ceremony has taken place here many times. So this is a pretty special historical place. Beverly Hills is of course a place that’s known worldwide for wealth and celebrities, so I always like to look my best whenever I spend time here, lol. But that doesn’t mean I need to wear only expensive designer items. I actually prefer to wear a high/low mix of both high-end and cheaper fast fashion items. It’s more fun and relaxed that way. My dress is by Jason Wu, who is most well-known for dressing former US First Lady Michelle Obama. I always love a vibrant bold print for summer. Plus this dress feels so light and airy. My handy crossbody bag is a timeless classic item from Chanel. My other accessories were more accessible. My sunglasses are from VYE Eyewear and my shoes are by Kendall and Kylie Jenner’s ready-to-wear collection. The chunky heel makes them easier and more comfortable to walk in while I still get the elevation:) I always love coordinating colors so I kept almost everything within the dark red/maroon/Burgundy family - kind of bold for me. I was trying to figure out how to play with these colors even in summer cuz I still love wearing red times year-round, why not? I love how put-together I feel when I opt for a monochrome color scheme. I look forward to wearing many more fun outfits as summer continues. I will definitely keep you all posted, stay tuned. Hi Ladies,
Hope you all enjoy the Memorial Day Weekend. I am back to work (on my Insta-mode) this week. To get ready for the summer, I listed a lot of beauty and fashion essentials that are perfect for a sunkissed summer. Back on the event before Coachella this spring, I got to attend Ombre All Day, which was the product launch party for actress/singer Vanessa Hudgens’ new festival-themed makeup collection with Sinful Colors. She also recently started working for the brand as their Global Color Collaborator. The event took place by the rooftop pool at the luxury Dream Hotel inside The Highlight Room in Hollywood, which has an amazing view of the city.
Entering weekend with the beautiful cold shoulder dress, I am so obsessed with the hot pink details and its unique design. This dress by Jason Wu is super feminine mixed with flirty pink contrast and sophisticated look. The flip-on A-line silhouette fits almost everyone - even when you don't have the runway model's height, you will look so high-fashioned in this dress. I just paired a pair of shoes in the same color to make the total look consistent and popping.
Since the weather is finally back to normal in LA, now is the time to start getting into a happy summer mood. Two things that help with that: bold-colored clothing and ice cream!
I went to Palm Springs last week! It was never too much fun to stay in this amazing desert town. Everything we experienced in Palm Spring was so cozy, friendly and beautifully-styled. I really wanted to share some fun places that I enjoyed on this trip. Immersed with bougainvillea flowers, I fell in love this hidden garden at Downtown Palm Springs. There were a few historical residences along this little alley. The cactus and bougainvillea were all over here.
My wrap dress is Vibe Apparel and the hat is San Diego Hat Company. It’s been really chilly this spring in Los Angeles. We almost experienced four seasons in the first week of March – spoiled LA people suffered from unusual rains and winds this spring. There are definitely no rules in spring fashion this year in LA, only limits to be pushed out. Seasonal fabrics, layers and how to style them, we have no rules to follow. But I really love thick wool or fur to be layered over a seasonal spring outfit when unexpected winds and rains arrive. Like last week with LAFW, I had to put a winter blazer to survive the one-minute red carpet in a chilly spring fashion night. For a not-so-warm spring, wool scarf and wool oversized blazers are perfect for the late morning sun and versatile enough for a sudden temperature drop on a mid-March day.
Hey guys, I celebrated this past Chinese New Year with friends and families in my hometown Shanghai. As you may know, Shanghai is the largest international city in China with historical western landmarks built by French and British. I love Shanghai not only for its glam metro lifestyle but also for its passion for fashion. It was the coldest season in Shanghai during Chinese New Year but local people and visitors heated the city with their holiday celebration - from amazing foods, shopping, parties and all kinds of activities.
I would like to share my outfits during this trip in Shanghai. Hope you all enjoy them. Xo. Happy February, everyone! One of the best ways to celebrate the upcoming Valentine's Day is to dress up for the fabulous night. While most part of the country is still in cold weather, LA is already a lot more like in spring. I styled a few new spring dresses for V-Day in warm LA, but they can easily be transitioned to wintery outfits by knee-length boots, fur jacket or wool coat.
Some items are never out of trend and will stay on top of wardrobe every season. Leather jacket is one of them. They are incredibly versatile and they always add right amount of sophistication to a simple outfit. Searching for a perfect piece of leather jacket is like a process of finding a soulmate or part of a modern woman's lifestyle. I have been blogging a lot about my jackets this season but I am not settled yet.
It’s already holiday season. Are you all shopping for your holiday looks? Designers of all kind have made the best out of velvet fabrics this season and we fashion bloggers all have gone crazy about it. Velvet is something glamorous and sophisticated to wear which to me is very easy to pull out from runway to street and of course to my Instagram #OOTD. No matter it’s a piece of nice dress or simply a pair of velvet ankle boots, they are the perfect items to bring the glam back to real life. I love to wear velvet for my fall and winter look not just for sake of the storming velvet trend but genuinely I like it for its visual pleasure and soft drapery silhouette. I foresee the velvet trend will continue its momentum into 2018.
Being chic sometime doesn't require too much thinking. Shirt and jeans are such a classic combo that never go out of fashion, true for men and for women too. Women's shirts have more varieties. Chiffon, silk, velvet, basic cotton, whichever fabrics you like, you get the look effortlessly. The shirts can be slim fit for a smarter look or oversized for a boyfriend casual look. You can tuck it in or let it out, wear belts or not - so many different ways of wearing them. I recently fell in love with printed shirts on skinny jeans. Jeans are not only belong to the casual relaxed realm - they can be sleek and smart depending on the silhouette, length and tones. My favorites are those ankle jeans with tons of wash and distressed details. What's your favorite?
I said that I would never wear my pajamas out of my bedroom but it was not true. The pajamas trend has been around for over two years. This year, its updated version the kimono style is appealing to me. Kimono is everywhere in fast fashion stores and the hashtag brings huge traffic. Kimono is more than an easy (or lazy) way to get me out of the house. I don’t have to even think about it because it’s so versatile for any spring and fall looks. It's something truly stylish - the new bold colors, floral print designs and tropical bloom. I got three kimonos this season and they go almost with all my basic attire. I can easily wear my basic t-shirts, tube tops, skinny jeans, bodycon dress or anything in solid color with straight or skinny silhouette. I appreciate that they come with various lengths and waist designs. I particularly love maxi length with which I can dress up with my heels to avoid the culturally conservative and over-natural way of the traditional kimono look. The satin fabric brings feminine touch to any outfit. The green and navy-blue kimonos are from boohoo.com and the last yellow one was from shein.com. You can easily find them online or in Zara stores. Mine are all under $60, chic and affordable. Why not?
Have a beautiful Thanksgiving! <3 Philosophy has been one of my favorite bath and fragrance brands that makes delicious-smelling products at very reasonable price. The brand image has been super natural, clean and pure. The scent of rose and natural ingredients helps me sleep better and improves my mood.
On October 12th the World Mental Health Day, I collaborated with Philosophy for its "hope and grace initiative" to support mental health and wellbeing of women who suffered from major mental challenges like depression and anxiety. Philosophy will donate 1% of its sales to commit to this initiative, which is the first major brand that focuses on this social issue. This cause coincides with my blogging goal - by sharing beauty and fashion tips for female audience, I want to help women to look good and feel good about themselves. For our collaboration, Philosophy sent me this skincare kit to try (see product photos as below), including a pure grace nude fragrance, purity made simple cleanser and grace body lotion. "Life is too short to have boring hair." I was often asked if I would try pastel hair color like other bloggers did. I said, yes and no. I am obsessed with purple and pink hair which totally channels my “inner unicorn”, so Yes. But my hair is super dried and fragile - it is not going to survive a few times of brightening and dying to achieve the pastel colors. Like other girls, I am super busy (or lazy) so I won't be able to visit my hairdresser every 6 weeks to do my roots and bring the pastel color back. So also it’s also a No. Until I met this beauty Larisa (@larisadoll), the owner of Larisa Love Salon in Studio City, a super star hairstylist who mastered the unicorn hair game, I didn't know I had a better option - a temporary hair color by using Joico Color Butter. There are six different colors to choose from, pink, purple, red, titanium, blue and green (all my obsessions are here). The color is highly pigmented and surprisingly nourishing, almost like a conditioner or hair mask. The color only lasts for 10 shampoos or two weeks. So, I won't be worrying about if I pick a wrong color. It’s even better if you already colored your hair to pastel. Joico Color Butter can easily bring your color back when it's fading after a couple of weeks. At this exclusive preview event, Larisa walked me through the six colors and I got to try colors on paper (the spin art) and extension hairs. I mixed the pink and purple with a little bit of transition. I knew it would still keep it natural so titanium will be my top choice. I also tried it on super light extension. The titanium butter achieved a silver shade which will work on slightly faded bleached hair. It was a cute event where we met like-minded people, social media stars, models and bloggers. I picked titanium color and I can’t wait to try it at home.
“I make shoe contact before eye contact.”
My girlfriends complained that I made their shopping list too long. When I updated my wardrobe each season, I liked to start with shoes. I felt that a good pair of shoes makes me feel more powerful than beautiful. I am not very short but standing in high heels definitely feels greater. A few weeks ago, I saw one of my favorite fashion Instagrammers (@marianna_hewitt) posted her beautiful looks with the same nude shoes (the two upper right photos). I was so obsessed with these sandals. This is definitely a hero item! I then found this item at a shoe brand GuiltySoles who made the hottest and most Instagrammable shoes at very modest price. (#getguilty) It's almost the first day of Fall (isn’t it 9/22?)! I can't believe summer is over, so soon... When it’s still over 75 degree in West Hollywood, the fashioninstas are gearing up for the fashion week month. For me, good thing about fall is that I can have fun layering my favorite items with literally no sweat:P This week I am very busy with a few SS18 fashion weeks in Los Angeles. So much great inspiration on and off runway, like always, it builds up my shopping cart and wishlist...
This time I would like to share this simple fall look that almost got all my obsessions for this season - embroidery, kimono, floral and mesh sheath...It's all about the incredible details. Are these almost all the hit hashtags? The more, the merrier. We never get enough key words and hashtags but how? If you love hiking and mountaineering, you won't regret going to Utah. Living in LA, we have been spending most of weekends by the beach. The cliffs at Malibu are magnificently beautiful but not as epic as the mountains in Utah. Inspired by some amazing Instagrammers and Photographers in Utah, Robert and I decided to drive to Utah and explore these mountains. As a fashion blogger, I brought my favorite summer dresses and trendy flats to glam up my road trip :) After about eight hours of drive, we arrived at this little town close to Zion Park. On our way to the Park, we stopped at a beautiful farm called Fort Zion. We had fun at its sunflower field, alpacas petting farm and vintage boutiques. There was amazing mountain view behind the sunflower field. Robert snapped a few shots with 50mm at this cute field. I was wearing my favorite ruffle-sleeve olive dress with lace details and open back - super comfortable to wear yet effortless to style on the road.
A NEW SUMMER HAIRSTYLE BY MASTER STYLIST KEYA at 42FAIR Pasadena!!!
So obsessed with soft balayage which helps me easily achieve a natural blonder look for summer! Balayage hair color is a French technique that is the latest dye trend to gain international popularity. The goal is to create soft, natural-looking highlights that look more modern than traditional coloring methods. My natural hair is dark brown. Keya lightened my base color to a lighter brown and added medium blonde highlight mixed with the brown hair. The final look is gradually toned from medium brown to blonde. This color makes my total look more sophisticated but still natural. Keya used Kerastase haircare products to moisturized and repair my dry hair damaged by sun exposure and regular blow-dry. After the haircare, he trimmed the split ends and created higher layers to make it lightweight and healthy. Balayage technique is something universally good for all age and all skin tones. After blow-dry and curling, here my new look is done! Shinning, lightened, texturized, my hair is totally ready for special occasions. Yes! I am such a strong believer of Timelessness and Elegance. As much as I get inspired by the current trend, I always like to include something classic but chic in my looks. This time I collaborated with a vintage boutique on Melrose - Golden Age Vintage for these fun looks.
Another exciting season of LAFW took place in Beverly Hills and Hollywood last week. I attended the amazing events and shows as an ambassador. This is a quick recap of my event and street looks for the entire week, enjoy!!!
This is my first long knit vest - I'm so late to this vest game butI just can't stop wearing it and blogging it for the whole spring. This vest is very versatile, which can be matched with a simple black dress for a work outfit or with a T-shirt and jeans like the look on the picture for a casual street look. For colors, I recommend this light grey for knit. If it's a silk or cotton vest, nude or army green will look cool. The styling of long vest is pretty easy - the same as how we layer a long blazer. By the way, this vest was from BacianoDesign, a label born in LA.
I am actually gonna bring this look to LA Fashion Week. What you think? |
