It’s already holiday season. Are you all shopping for your holiday looks? Designers of all kind have made the best out of velvet fabrics this season and we fashion bloggers all have gone crazy about it. Velvet is something glamorous and sophisticated to wear which to me is very easy to pull out from runway to street and of course to my Instagram #OOTD. No matter it’s a piece of nice dress or simply a pair of velvet ankle boots, they are the perfect items to bring the glam back to real life. I love to wear velvet for my fall and winter look not just for sake of the storming velvet trend but genuinely I like it for its visual pleasure and soft drapery silhouette. I foresee the velvet trend will continue its momentum into 2018. Dress & Wrap Slip dresses are insanely beautiful with a touch of luxe. Most of the velvet dress styles are available in black, burgundy and navy. These are the “safe” colors for all wardrobe. If you are really avant-garde, some lighter colors will be great too such as orange, light pink or silver. Full-length drapery slip dresses look very flattering and timeless. Under a maxi velvet, you can effortlessly find shoes to pair. I recommend simple stilettos, strappy sandals, sock boots in black or other matching colors (I prefer to wear darker color for shoes). If it’s not warm enough, you can layer a cropped or regular length leather jacket or a trench. Blazer & Jacket Double or single-breasted blazers look so sleek and chic. While the trend of gender neutrality is prominent in fashion industry, long/oversized velvet blazer becomes a top choice of female fashioninstas who want the boyfriend or boss look but still likes to save a little femininity. For underneath, it really depends on your personality. To be safe or for work outfit, you can wear skinny jeans, cropped trousers. To get a sexier look, wear shorts or mini-skirt underneath the blazer. Shoes & Boots Velvet items make you really stand out when you were from top to toe. For lots of occasion, you might want to look elegantly low-key, some accessories will give you perfect amount of velvet. Velvet strappy sandals, velvet heels or boots are usually comfortable to wear with its stretchy fabrics. Fabrics
Velvet is one of the warmest fabrics you can wear in winter. Again, they came with different colors and prints. (There is no limitation.) It was unusual to see them in fast fashion but now you can easily find some nice pieces in Zara but definitely at a higher price point than other fabrics. It takes more confidence and sense of style to pull off velvet dresses and skirts. It’s not surprising that designer brands use very high-end velvet fabrics for their RTW collections. These luxurious fabrics are everything that you wish for – they are warm, comfortable and chic. I picked these two from Saint Laurent and Balmain that would definitely keep you warm and make you look a big lady boss who looks rich and powerful. Luxury velvet items are for someone who likes to go all the way for velvet.
